Tersus Solutions, the pioneer of liquid CO2 cleaning technology, today named Chris Chambers general manager of Fire and PPE Cleaning Services, effective immediately. Bringing 16 years of industry experience, Chambers will lead the expansion of Tersus's fire and personal protective equipment, or PPE, cleaning division.
Previously, Chambers was at Shur Sales and Marketing, where he built deep relationships across the fire service community and developed a reputation as a trusted resource for fire departments nationwide. In his new role, he will oversee strategic growth initiatives, expand relationships with independent service providers (ISPs) and fire departments, and help scale Tersus's advanced CO2 cleaning technology across the country.
“Chris is exactly the kind of person we need to accelerate our growth in the fire service industry,” said Peter Whitcomb, CEO of Tersus Solutions. “His deep relationships, credibility and firsthand understanding of what firefighters need from their gear make him uniquely qualified to lead this division. We're fortunate to have him on the team as we work to bring cleaner, healthier gear to more firefighters and extend the life of the equipment they depend on every day.”
"Having spent my last 16 years of my career alongside the fire service, I understand how essential clean, well-maintained gear is to firefighter health and safety," said Chambers. "Tersus' CO2 cleaning technology represents a significant advancement in the field. It removes contaminants that conventional methods leave behind while preserving the integrity of the protective barriers in turnout gear. At Tersus, I look forward to helping more departments and independent service providers expand access to this technology and continuing my commitment to fire safety, a commitment that has been a passion of mine throughout my career.”
Tersus's patented liquid CO2 cleaning process is designed to remove hazardous contaminants, including carcinogens, embedded deep within firefighter turnout gear, helmets, hoods and gloves. Unlike traditional water-based cleaning methods, the CO2 process is gentle on protective fabrics, helping gear safety standards while extending its usable life. This allows fire departments to keep gear in circulation longer, reduce and even eliminate replacement costs, and reduce firefighters' exposure to harmful chemicals linked to elevated cancer rates within the profession.
Chambers's move follows a long and respected run at Shur Sales and Marketing. Ken Bush, CEO of Shur Sales and Marketing, reflected on Chambers's departure.
"After 16 years together, it's hard to put into words what Chris Chambers has meant to Shur Sales and Marketing and to me personally," said Bush. “I've had the privilege of watching him grow, succeed, take on challenges, and become a very important part of what we built together. While I'm sorry to see him leave, I'm proud of the professional and person he is. Tersus is gaining someone who knows this industry, understands what firefighters need, and has earned the trust of the departments he's served. He'll be a tremendous asset to Tersus and to the fire community as a whole. I wish Chris nothing but success in this next chapter. He will always be part of the legacy of our team and family, and I'll always be grateful for the 16 years we had the privilege to work together.”
