Dive Insight:
As advances in technology continue to be applied to physical security environments, 36% of physical security professionals plan to invest in access control technologies in 2024, according to Genetec’s 2024 State of Physical Security report, which highlights the findings of a survey spanning 5,554 respondents last year. A growing emphasis on using technology to improve physical security has driven security access and control companies like SwiftConnect, Wavelynx and Brivo to add Google Wallet access control capabilities to their offerings as recently as last month.
Allegion, with more than 12,000 employees and over 15,000 global channel partners, provides security products featuring more than 30 global brands. These include electronic lock provider CISA, interior and storefront door systems manufacturer AD Systems and workforce management solutions firm Interflex as well as Stanley Access Technologies, Schlage, Simons Voss, according to the company’s website.
By supporting employee badges in Google Wallet, Schlage offers a technology that will evolve as new capabilities become available, Allegion said. The company noted that its physical access control systems-driven alliances will now be able to work with Schlage to offer the solution to customers and commercial business owners.
Schlage devices compatible with the Google Wallet employee badges include the NDE and LE Series, XE360 and AD series wireless locks, MTB series wall readers and RC series reader controllers, Allegion said. The badges will be protected by multiple layers of security to ensure that sensitive information is safe, and credentials can be deactivated if a phone is lost or stolen, the company said.
